2019 — 2026

What Was
MERCHBASE?

A retrospective on Fanbase Africa's merchandise division.

MERCHBASE® Africa was the registered merchandise brand operating under Fanbase Africa from 2019. Born from the same team that ran ZAXL Online since 2012, it grew into South Africa's premier merchandise platform — serving hundreds of creators across three roles at once.

In June 2026, as Fanbase Africa pivoted to serve the Christian music community, MERCHBASE closed its bulk production and marketplace (shopmerchbase.com) services. Outstanding orders, refunds, and signed contracts were fully wrapped up by the end of that month.

Three Roles, One Platform

Print-on-Demand

A Merch Platform

MERCHBASE let artists and brands design and sell custom apparel with no inventory — orders were printed and fulfilled on demand, end to end.

Wholesale

A Blank-Apparel Marketplace

It connected creators and labels to bulk blank apparel suppliers — sourcing, tiered pricing, and production runs for hundreds of customers.

Storefronts

A Creator Storefront Service

MERCHBASE built and managed online merch storefronts for creators — from launch to logistics — so they could focus on their craft.

The Closure

MERCHBASE is no longer active. Its capabilities — bulk apparel sourcing and creator merch — live on in two places: the Bulk Order Desk for wholesale blanks, and the For His Glory collection for faith-driven apparel.
